Afghanistan: Taliban kill 30 policemen in the west province. The blistering overnight attack in Afghanistan also left 17 Taliban fighters dead. 

According to Afghan officials, Talibans have killed atleast 30 policemen in an overnight attack in Western Farah province, Afghanistan.

Provincial council member Dadullah Qani quoted by news agency Associated Press on Thursday, that the onslaught on the police outpost in the province’s district of Khaki Safed began late on Wednesday and continued for more than four hours.

The policemen who have been killed also include a district police commander, Abdul Jabhar. According to the report, the Talibans have managed to flee with a large number of weapons and ammunition. The blistering overnight attack also left 17 Taliban fighters dead.

The Talibans have in recent months been staging daily attacks across Afghanistan, inflicting heavy casualties on Afghan forces. Authorities no longer regularly provide casualty figures but unofficial estimates say about 45 Afghan police or soldiers are killed or wounded daily.
