Tamil director KV Anand passes away; Allu Arjun, Mohanlal offer condolences

In a shocking turn of events, popular Tamil director-cinematographer KV Anand (Karimanal Venkatesan Anand) passed away in Chennai after he suffered a massive cardiac arrest. His demise has sent shockwaves across the country.

Reportedly, in the early hours of Friday, KV Anand felt a sharp pain in his chest and drove the car all by himself to the Chennai-based private hospital nearby. However, he passed away at around 3 am. As soon as the news emerged online, many celebrities took to their social media handle and offered condolences to him.

Anand worked as a freelance photojournalist for leading newspapers and magazines such as Kalki, India Today, Illustrated Weekly, and other national publications. Later, he became a cinematographer in the early 1990s, working for about fifteen films in the Southern and Bollywood industries.

Anand won the National Film Award for Best Cinematography for his debut film as a cinematographer, Thenmavin Kombath. In 2005, Anand turned film director with the critically acclaimed Kana Kandaen.
