‘Tarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’ Fame Dilip Joshi Criticizes The Use Of Bad Language On OTT Shows

‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’ fame, Dilip Joshi who portrays the role of Jetha Lal enjoys a great fan following on social media. The actor in his recent conversation has slammed OTT platforms for promoting bad language through their content.

Dilip stated that some of the work on OTT platform is ‘mind-blowing’, however, he feels that use of bad language is ‘unnatural’ to him, as they are set in the backdrop of India and our culture is different from what we are showing in OTT web series. While talking to comedian Sorabh Pant on his YouTube podcast, the actor said, “If you want to show reality, then also show people going to the toilet and taking a bath. What you cater to the audience, matters. What you see, remains with you. Do you want to create a society in which people talk only using abusive language? There is a limit for everything. If it is within limit, it is enjoyable. If it goes beyond limit, it starts troubling you.”

Further he mentioned that he does understand that you need for the change with time. “Lekin kya gaali dena aage badhna hai (Is using bad language a progress?) Whatever is happening in the West, you want to experiment that here. The west is looking at the culture of the east. Our culture and traditions are the oldest. We have so many amazing things in our culture and without knowing that, you have to blindly follow the West. In their culture, they use the F-word a lot and so it doesn’t seem unnatural in their shows. However, its the same here. Do you talk to your parents like that?,” asked Joshi further.

Talking about the show, the makers of ‘TMKOC’ have recently resumed the shootings, post having a long break due to the pandemic Coronavirus lockdown. Dilip Joshi and Amit Bhatt were seen promoting the show on reality shows.
