In a shocking turn of events, Joe Lara best known for the role of Tarzan in the TV series Tarzan: The Epic Adventures passed away in a plane crash on May 29. Along with him, his wife, Gwen Lara who was a Christian diet guru, her son-in-law, the pilot, and three members of the Laras’ church also died.
The actor died when a Cessna Citation 501 ISP business jet owned by the church crashed into Percy Priest Lake near Smyrna, Tennessee. On Saturday, the Tennessee airport for Palm Beach, Florida, Rutherford County Fire & Rescue (RCFR) said on Facebook that the small business jet crashed at around 11:00 am local time on Saturday, shortly after taking off from the Smyrna.
According to a report in CNN, the plane went down into Percy Priest Lake, about 12 miles (19 kilometers) south of Nashville. The Federal Aviation Administration confirmed seven people had been aboard the plane.
Soon after, Joe Lara’s families were notified and an investigation is underway to determine the cause behind the crash. After the unfortunate accident, fire and other rescue crews were shipped off to the scene but, after an all-night operation. There was a total of seven people who were killed in the accident, reported TMZ.
Joe Lara also appeared in many action films, among them ‘Steel Frontier’ and ‘American Cyborg: Steel Warrior.’ He gave up acting after twenty years in 2002 to pursue a career in country music. At the peak of his fame, Lara appeared in two action films, ‘Armstrong’ and ‘Warhead.’
