Taylor Swift has surprised her Swifties with a new video festive track titled ‘Christmas Tree Farm’. While the singer has covered Christmas songs before, this is the first original Christmas themed track by Taylor Swift. The hitmaker previously released a festive EP in 2007 called ‘The Taylor Swift Holiday Collection’.
The song duration is four minutes. Christmas Tree Farm was co-produced by Taylor Swift and Jimmy Napes. The music video for the song is a mix of adorable scenes from Taylor’s childhood. There is also footage of baby Taylor in the snow on the Christmas tree farm she grew up on.
Taylor Swift announced the new Christmas single on social media. In the video she shared, she says,”Ok, I know this is pretty wild, but I’ve just written a Christmas song. I feel like it’s weird to just wait a year to put it out. So… I don’t know what to do.” She next turns to her cats Meredith, Benjamin and Olivia for advice: “Should I put out a Christmas song, like now?”
Swift captioned the post, “When in doubt, ask the itty bitty pretty kitty committee. When they shun you with silence, ambivalence, and judgmental brush offs… just put the song out anyway. NEW XMAS SONG AND VIDEO (made from home videos) OUT TONIGHT #ChristmasTreeFarm#ChristmasTreeFarm.”
Taylor Swift grew up on a Christmas tree farm in Pennsylvania called Pine Ridge Farm.
“It was an actual Christmas tree farm,” Swift told Philly Mag in 2018. “We had, like, 15 acres. It was really fun as a kid. I also spent my summers at the Jersey Shore, on the bay in Stone Harbor. I walked everywhere barefoot. It was just the most amazing, magical way to grow up.”
