Third wave of COVID is already upon Mumbai: Mayor Kishori Pednekar

On the occasion of Independence Day (August 15), Maharashtra state officials announced about resuming the suburban local train services for the common people who are fully vaccinated. Earlier in August, the state lifted many restrictions from COVID-19 imposed lockdowns and more than 14 districts were relieved after showcasing a significant pause in fresh Coronavirus cases. Off late the state started recording a surge in COVID-19 cases from all across. According to the latest reports, Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar says, “third wave of COVID is already upon Mumbai”.

ANI quoted Mumbai’s Mayor, Kishori Pednekar mentioning the peaking COVID-19 cases in Mumbai and other regions. She says, “The third-wave of Covid-19 is not coming, it is here.”

Highlighting the upcoming festive season in Maharashtra, the Mayor has urged people to remain in their homes and to follow the protocols. The Mandals have been asked to allow only 10 people and have them work in shifts, she reveals.

For the unversed, Mumbai in just the first six days of September is estimated to have recorded 28 per cent of cases which were recorded in August, 2021. The rapidly surging cases hint at the third wave, which was already predicted by the Health Officials earlier this year.
