Tokyo Olympics: Indian women’s Hockey team reaches semi-finals

On Monday i.e. August 2, the Indian women’s hockey team defeated Australian team in the quarter finals at the  Tokyo Olympic championship. India had won their last pool game against South Africa after suffering three consecutive defeats. The team defeated Australia by 1-0 and scripted a historic moment.

The Indian women’s hockey team reaches semi-finals for the first time in the history at the Olympics games. During the Moscow 1980 Olympics, the women’s team could finish four among the six matches. However, this year the women’s team showcased an aggressive defend to Australians and displayed a heroic performance in the two of the quarters. The last few mins of the game kept viewers on an edge, when the Australia got a chance of consecutive penalty strokes. They failed to turn it into a goal.
