Veteran actor and Comedian Jagdeep passes away at 81

Veteran Bollywood actor Jagdeep, passed away on Wednesday (July 8) in Mumbai. The actor whose original name was Syed Ishtiaq Ahmed Jafri was 81. The actor was popularly known for his role as Soorma Bhopali in Amitabh Bachchan, Dharmendra, Hema Malini, and Jaya Bachchan starrer ‘Sholay’.

The cause of his death is not known as yet.

Jagdeep had started his film career as a child artist and had a career spanning over 6 decades. He has appeared in more than 400 films. The veteran actor was also facilitated with the award for Outstanding Contribution To Indian Cinema at IIFA Awards 2019 in Mumbai.

He is survived by his sons Jaaved and Naved Jaaferi. His grandson Meezaan Jaffery made his Bollywood debut with Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Malaal’.
