Virat Kohli’s Foundation Opens Animal Shelters In Mumbai

Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma and Indian cricketer Virat Kohli are true-blue animal lovers. They have time and now advocated animal rights. Anushka has always harboured a dream of opening a shelter for animals. Today on World Stray Animals Day her dream has come true. Hubby Virat Kohli’s Foundation is all set to open two animal shelters in Mumbai.

Virat Kohli has collaborated with Vivaldis Animal Health, a leading Indian animal healthcare company founded by Kunal Khanna. Awaaz Voice of Stray Animals — a local NGO in Mumbai is also part of the group. They will set up two animal shelters in the island city. The shelters will be set up in Malad and Boisar and will be run by Awaaz (VOSA).

An excited Kohli said, “It is our dream to create a safer space for the stray animals of our city and I am happy to be taking on this project with Vivaldis and Awaaz, and working with like-minded people to create some facilities to help these animals.”

The shelter in Malad will be a temporary rehabilitation centre, where animals will be admitted for a temporary period until they recover. The centre in Boisar will be a permanent shelter, which will keep animals who are blind/ paralysed. Kohli will also sponsor ambulances and Vivaldi’s Animal Health will sponsor healthcare needs.
