Watch: Another bizarre run-out after Azhar Ali’s dismissal against Australia

Following Azhar Ali's bizarre dismissal, another run-out took place in a Plunket Shield match between Wellington and Otago.

Pakistan batsman Azhar Ali’s bizarre run-out on day two of the second Test against the Australians was something that the cricketing world wouldn’t forget in a while.

But there seems to be another similar run-out which is as bizarre as Ali’s. It all happened during a match between Wellington and Otago in New Zealand’s Plunket Shield. The miscommunication that took place between all-rounder Nathan Smith and Michael Rippon and an element of fun was added to it when both the batsmen fell to the ground while completing two runs.

Rippon had flicked a delivery to the fine leg and called for a regular two runs. But he slipped and fell twice after he completed the first run. He looked at his partner at the other end and tried to prevent him from running for the second. But it was all too late as when he ran to the non-striker’s end, he too slipped and fell down. Lachie Johns, the Wellington wicket-keeper quickly took down the bails as both the batsmen laid at the other end wondering what had happened.

Here is the video:

Azhar Ali’s comical run out happened after his shot went past gully and he thought that it had gone for a four. Walking up to his partner Asad Shafiq at the other end for a conversation, Ali failed to realise that the ball had stopped short of the boundary and was eventually run-out.
