In 2007, Vasundhara Raje was awarded “Women Together Award”, by the United Nations Organization, for efforts to assist women in self-empowerment.
Vasundhara Raje was also critical of the media saying people cannot stomach the success of women and accused them of indulging in such “trivial issues”.
It was the late Vijaya Raje Scindia, who urged Vasundhara to fight her first election from Bhind, Madhya Pradesh in 1984.
Vasundhara Raje fondly says that “My mother taught me, you can do it with hatred and get away with it, but do it with affection and you never lose. The enemies are always the ruling classes, never the masses.”

Vasundhara Raje was elected as the first ever woman Chief Minister of Rajasthan. She continued in that position till 2008.
