When Atif Aslam broke silence on comparisons with Arijit Singh

Atif Aslam and Arijit are two popular singers and they have sung dozens of songs for Bollywood movies. Following the deadly terror attack in Pulwama in 2019, Pakistani actors and artistes in India have bee banned to perform in India.

Ever since the All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) announced a total ban on Pakistani actors and artists in India, millions of people have been missing his soulful voice of Atif Aslam. There was a time when Atif Aslam was compared to India’s no 1 singing sensation, Arijit Singh.

When a fan asked Atif who is the best singer between him and Arijit Singh, to which he replied, “Of course… Arijit!”

He then went on and had said,  “Jis ko Khuda izzat daita hai uss ko aap ko bhi izzat daini chahiye [If God’s kind to someone you should also respect them]. Arijit ko izzat mili hai [Arijit has been blessed] people should respect him. I am no one to control anyone. We need to understand there’s no such thing as number one.”

Atif Aslam might be belonging to Pakistan but he has millions of fans in India as well. Atif had once spoken up about an incident when Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor’s sister Riddhima told him that his songs ‘Tera Honay Laga Hoon‘ and ‘Tu Janay Na‘ propelled Ranbir to superstardom.

“Interestingly enough, not too many heroes realise what a huge impact songs can have on their careers. The other day I met Ranbir’s sister and she was so down to earth. She praised me for giving him Tera Honay Laga Hoon and Tu Janay Na. It was such a nice gesture that she would come up to me and say that that’s when Ranbir became a star,” said Atif Aslam.
