Bahrain GP: F1 Driver Romain Grosjean Miraculously Survives After Car Explodes

F1 Driver Romain Grosjean miraculously survived a horrific car crash at the Bahrain Grand Prix. The French driver’s Haas collided with Daniil Kyvat’s Alpha Tauri on turn three. Romain Grosjean F1 car exploded after smashing into a crash barrier.

The F1 driver had veered off track and drove directly into a three-tiered Armco steel barricade. His car split in half and immediately exploded in flames. Miraculously Grosjean emerged from the wall of fire behind that shattered fence. He soon climbed to safety with the aid of a track worker. Haas team principal Guenther Steiner told ESPN Grosjean is doing ok. He is suffering from minor burns and at least one suspected broken rib.

Romain Grosjean is being treated for burns to his hands and will stay in hospital overnight. He took to social media and shared a video from his hospital bed. The Frenchman thanked medical teams and credited the Halo head protection device, for allowing him to walk away from the accident.

“Hello everyone, just wanted to say I am okay… sort of okay,” he said, as he waved hands heavily wrapped in bandages.

The race was also suspended 45 minutes after the horrific accident.
