Agnivesh was beaten up after an event in Pakur. Besides manhandling Agnivesh, the attackers also tore his clothes. The reason is yet to be verified

Social Activist Swami Agnivesh was beaten up allegedly by the BJP Yuva Morcha workers in Jharkhand’s Pakur district today. The BJP workers displayed black flags and raised slogans against him.

Swami Agnivesh was attending an event in Pakur. He was flogged by the tribals who were holding bows and arrows.
Then he was attacked by the group as soon as he came out of the hotel.

In an interview with NDTV, Agnivesh said, “I am against any sort of violence. I am known as a peace- loving person. I don’t know why I was attacked.”

Sometime ago, Agnivesh had angered some fringe groups with his comments on the Sanatan Dharam.

He also said, “I think this was a sponsored attack. Have not been given any security. The attack is a conspiracy.”

Besides manhandling Agnivesh, the attackers also tore his clothes. Local reports from Jharkhand say the BJP workers were protesting against his visit to the region.

Agnivesh was once an MLA in Haryana and also held a cabinet portfolio in the state government, before quitting politics. He was also associated with the India Against Corruption led by Anna Hazare.
