Yuzvendra Chahal feels Lord's pitch acted biased towards England

India lost to England in the second ODI at Lord’s on Saturday. It was a one sided encounter as the hosts defeated India by 86 runs. Meanwhile, Yuzvendra Chahal felt that the Lord’s pitch didn’t offer much help to the spinners in the first innings but surely did turn when India came to bat.

The young Indian leg spinner feels that the surface at Lord’s acted biased towards English spinners as Moeen Ali and Adil Rashid got good assistance from the wicket. It justified the fact that home of cricket is eventually the home of England and it helped them beat India to square the series 1-1.

The hosts scored 322/7 after Joe Root scored his 12th ODI hundred and David Willey ensured England’s recovery from 239/6 at one stage. In reply, India bundled out for 236 in 50 overs.

“I think as a team, we conceded 20-25 runs too many at the death. But the credit should go to Willey and Root too because they batted so well in the end. It was a different, slow pitch. If you bowled slow, the batsmen were able to play it easily. When we bowled, there wasn’t as much turn on the Lord’s pitch as there was in the second inning. The way Moeen started, the boundaries weren’t coming. We could only get one or two runs and the asking rate was climbing, so there was pressure on the batsmen. You can say their spinners bowled well in the middle overs,” Chahal said.

Yuzvendra Chahal stated that Virat Kohli’s wicket was the turning point in the match as he and Raina were doing well to steady the ship.

India play England in the third and final ODI at Headingley on Tuesday.
