The wait is finally over as Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif-starrer ‘Sooryavanshi’ is all set to hit the theatres this Diwali. Maharashtra CM announced that theatres in the state will reopen from October 22. A few hours after Uddhav Thackeray-led Maharashtra government announcement. Filmmaker Rohit Shetty thanked the CM and announced that his much-awaited film will have a Diwali release.
“Thanks to our Honourable Chief Minister, Shri Uddhav Thackeray, theatres in Maharashtra to reopen from 22nd October. And FINALLY!!! we can say, This DIWALI… AA RAHI HAI POLICE,” he wrote.

Sooryavanshi was originally scheduled for a release on March 24 last year. But the release was postponed due to COVID Pandemic. The makers next announced that it will release in June 2020 but the theatres were still not open. The movie was soon postponed to April 30 this year. It will now release on Diwali 2021.
‘Sooryavanshi’ is the fourth film in Shetty’s cop universe after Ajay Devgn-starrer ‘Singham’, ‘Singham Returns’ and ‘Simmba’, starring Ranveer Singh. The movie has Ajay Devgn and Ranveer Singh in cameos. They will be seen in their popular cop avatars.
Sooryavanshi is presented by Reliance Entertainment and produced by Rohit Shetty Picturez in association with Dharma Productions and Cape of Good Films.
On the work front, Akshay Kumar also has Bachchan Pandey, Atrangi Re and others in his kitty.
