Congress ashamed of saying ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’: Amit Shah

Two days ahead of the Assembly Elections in Madhya Pradesh and Mizoram, allegations and counter allegations are in full swing. BJP president Amit Shah made one more allegation against the Congress saying that Congress party leaders are ashamed of saying ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’. He said this while addressing a rally in Madhya Pradesh’s Kukshi area.

“I happened to know an incident from Rajasthan where a Congress worker wanted to give the slogan ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’, but he was interrupted and made to say ‘Sonia Gandhi Ki Jai’,” Shah claimed in his customary style. “This shows what is more important to a Congress leader… They are ashamed of giving out such slogans,” Shah said.

Unleashing his attack on the Congress leadership, Shah asked the opposition give an account of work by them during their tenure before asking for the NDA government’s performance in the last term. “Rahul baba (Congress chief) asks us to give a report of our four-and-a-half year’s of performance. He and his family have been in power for four-and-a-half generations. They should be the first one to talk about their performances,” Shah alleged.

Praising the efforts of BJP government under Shivraj Singh Chouhan in Madhya Pradesh, Shah said it has done huge work including bringing huge reforms in agriculture sector, but “the figures are deliberately ignored by Congress leaders”.

“During the Congress regime, farmers used to get Rs 1,300 crore in the form of crop loans but Mr Chouhan managed to increase the crop credit coverage to Rs 13,000 crore,” Amit Shah claimed.

The campaigning for Madhya Pradesh and Mizoram Assembly Elections ended on Monday evening as both states go to polls on Wednesday.

Last week, the campaigning reached crescendo for both the opposition and the BJP which saw many stalwarts visiting the states and making promises to the people. BJP faces the anti-incumbency factor while Congress is trying to gain power in these states which it used to rule once.
