The opposition is divided in opinion. So much so that the parties opposing the Narendra Modi-led government are not on same page on multiple issues and formation of alliance has hit roadblock on several occasions. However, good news for them came from Telengana.
Following the Telagana Rashtra Samithi’s (TRS) dissolution of the government only last week, Congress, Telegu Desam Party (TDP)led by Chandrababu Naidu and the CPI have come together to forge an alliance for the assembly elections expected to be held later this year. The leaders of all the three allies called on the Governor ESL Narasimhan and asked for the state to be under President’s rule following the dissolution of the government.
“Fair and free elections not possible if KCR continues as the chief minister. We will approach the Supreme Court against Telangana being forced into early elections,” the party leaders were quoted as saying by NDTV.
With an eye on early elections, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao resigned barely five days ago. He has been asked to be caretaker CM till the election dates are revealed by the election commission.
It may be recalled that Telangana Congress had accused KCR of being a sympathiser of BJP and the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and concluded that staging the election this year itself won’t be possible because of the ongoing process of electoral rolls.
Earlier, the state assembly was dissolved on last Thursday hoping that he will continue to get support considering the oppositions’ difference of opinion.
