COVID-19 lockdown: Akshay Kumar offers aid to Mumbai theatres

The coronavirus lockdown has caused immense problems to the common man. Celebrities across the world are extending a helping hand to help the people in need. Bollywood stars too are doing the same. From Salman Khan, Hrithik Roshan to Akshay Kumar and many more each one is extending a helping hand to the needy. After donating Rs 25 crore to the PM CARES Fund, Akshay Kumar has now offered help to a Mumbai theatre.

Akshay came forth and offered to help the owner of Mumbai’s iconic theatres, Gaiety Galaxy, Manoj Desai.

Speaking to Midday Manoj Desai said, “Three days ago, I got a call from Akshayji. He offered to provide financial assistance if the scenario continues. It was kind of him to offer help, but we should find a way to sustain ourselves. We have managed to collect enough funds to pay the salaries for this month, but the theatre shutdown will have long-term ramifications. Our focus is to ensure we don’t trim staff or resort to pay cuts.”

After two weeks of lockdown, Manoj and business partner Arun Nair had decided to increase the ticket prices as soon as the cinemas re-opened. However, after the lockdown extension, recovering from a 45-day period, is going to be tough.

Akshay has been doing his bit to raise awareness among people to stay home amid coronavirus lockdown. From releasing an angry video on Instagram to starring in a common music video with other Bollywood actors, Akshay has been doing his bit to make fans aware of it.

On the work front, the Khiladi will be seen in Rohit Shetty’s ‘Sooryavanshi’, ‘Laxxmi Bomb’ and ‘Prithviraj’.
