COVID-19: Maharashtra Clocks 24,752 New Cases In 24 Hours

Maharashtra registered 24,752 new coronavirus cases in a span of 24 hours. This takes the state’s infection tally to 56,50,907. The 453 deaths have pushed the death toll to 91,341. Out of the 453 deaths, 323 occurred in the last 48 hours and 130 during the last week, says the health department. The active cases in the state have now reached 3,15,042.

The health department added, Mumbai has 1,362 new COVID-19 cases and 34 deaths. This took the cities infection tally to 7,00,340 and the death toll to 14,684.

The BMC added, Mumbai now has 27,943 active Covid-19 cases after the discharge of 1,021 recovered patients from hospitals in the past 24 hours. 6,56,446 coronavirus patients are recuperating from the viral disease. The recovery rate in the island city has increased to 94%, the civic body said.

The BMC further said that at present Mumbai has 44 containment zones in slums and chawls (old row tenements), while the number of sealed buildings is 200.

India has registered 2,11,298 new cases in the last 24 hours. The Top 5 states with registered maximum cases are Tamil Nadu with 33,764 cases, followed by Kerala with 28,798 cases, Karnataka with 26,811 cases, Maharashtra with 24,752 cases, and Andhra Pradesh with 18,285 cases.
