COVID-19 Update: Fresh cases surge in Mumbai crossing 400-mark

A few weeks ago Maharashtra lifted many of the lockdown restrictions from as many as 14 districts, which recorded a significant decline in COVID-19 cases. To give a relief to the common people, the state officials had also announced resuming suburban local train services for fully vaccinated people. After easing many restrictions in the state, the COVID-19 cases seem to be taking a new turns towards the surge. As per reports, Mumbai recorded a new surge of cases that has now crossed the 400-mark. The fresh Coronavirus cases didn’t cross this count since July until last week.

As many as 416 people tested positive for Coronavirus as of by Wednesday (September 1). The metro city had last recorded 400 fresh cases on July 28. As per the media reports, on August 22, there were 22 sealed buildings in the city. While on September 1, the number of sealed buildings peaked to count 32. According to the guidelines, the building becomes eligible to be sealed by BMC officials only if there are five or more COVID-19 cases reported from one building or society. This year, Mumbai had reported the highest 11,163 cases on April 4, 2021. There are 3,187 active Covid-19 cases in the city at present, as per the BMC.
