Covid Infection In Children: Fever, Bodyache Most Common Symptoms

India is at present grappling with the second wave of Covid-19. Children, who were unaffected by the first wave of COVID-19 are now at the risk of getting exposed to the virus. This has become a cause of concern for parents. India’s B.1.617 variant of the virus is said to be affecting kids as young as 1 or 16 years of age.

Some of the common symptoms of Covid infection among children are Cough, Cold, Fever, Body ache, and Diarrhea. O2 saturation reading below 90 indicates the severity of infection and children become lethargic, vomits, and get Diarrhea and sometimes convulsion“, says Dr. Muzaffar Jan.

He added that Monitor and check whether a child is breathing, responding normally. Infectious children should be kept in isolation and administered immunity boosters including vitamins and zinc besides paracetamol tablets. He also advised that the children should be kept away from elderly people because old age people are prone to get covid infection.

1. Fever:

Fever is the most common symptom of COVID-19 reported in kids and adults alike. Persistent fever lasting more than 5 days accompanied by weakness, chills, and pain could mean that the child has contracted the virus. Immediate specialized care should be sought.

2. Stomach Ache

If your child is experiencing stomach ache continuously, it could be because of the Gastrointestinal symptoms of COVID. The symptoms include bloating, abdominal cramps, or a feeling of heaviness in the stomach. Many children have also reported a loss of appetite.

3. Diarrhea:

A feeling of vomiting or the occurrence of loose and watery stool are signs of the virus.

4. Cold and Cough

Persistent cold and cough, also indicate a sign of infection in the upper respiratory tract in children. However, these symptoms are milder in kids as compared to adults.

5. Skin Rashes:

Any sign of sudden discoloration of the skin, red rashes, or bumpy skin should be immediately consulted.
