Portugal and Juventus star Cristiano Ronaldo tests positive for COVID-19

Portugal and Juventus star Cristiano Ronaldo has tested positive for coronavirus. The news was confirmed by the Portuguese Football Federation in a statement on Tuesday.

According to FPF, Ronaldo is well and is showing no symptoms. He is in isolation. The Covid-19 test was carried out recently as preparation ahead of Portugal’s clash with Sweden. The star player will miss out on the match against Sweden on Wednesday.

The federation also revealed that the rest of the Portugal team had undergone tests after Ronaldo’s positive result. But all the other players have tested negative. They all will be available for the Nations League match against Sweden.

Ronaldo has left Portugal training camp confirmed the Portuguese Football Federation. He will begin a period of self-isolation and during the time his health will be closely monitored.

The 35-year-old Juventus forward played for Portugal against France in the Nations League on Sunday and against Spain in a friendly last week. Both the games had ended in a goalless draw.

The 5-time Ballon d’Or winner is likely to miss the next two matches for Juventus as well. The reigning Serie A champions are scheduled to face Crotone and Dynamo Kiev in Serie A and the Champions League group stage, respectively.
