Cyclone Fani: Odisha cops go beyond to rescue people against the odds

On May 3, Cyclone Fani ripped off the coastal town Puri as it hit the town with a wind speed of nearly 180 kmph. The storm was followed by rain and landfall. Trees and towers were uprooted, thatched houses, buses, cars were damaged and a few even lost their lives. The lives of the people in the Odisha state came to a standstill due to this natural calamity.

The Odisha government did their bit to save the people and authorities were fully prepared for the calamity. The government on Thursday evacuated over 11 lakh people from low-lying areas in 15 districts to lower the risk of casualties.

Everyone is lauding the efforts by the authorities specially of the Odisha police who risked their lives to help the people. A picture has surfaced on the internet where we see a young female police officer giving a ride to two other women on her motorcycle. This picture has gone viral and everyone is saluting this cop. She is posted at Talchua Police Station in Kendrapara.

People are praising her for her efforts and social media is flooded with comments for the young cop.

Hold on! Another female cop in Ganjam area was seen carrying an elderly woman in her arms to move her to a safe place.

Also, the male policemen helped the people to get shelter, food and clear the roads.
