Hindu extremists in jail, arrested by ATS for allegedly plotting terror attacks, are taking the help of religious sentiments to avoid being questioning. The right-wingers are either chanting ‘Om’ or go to meditation every time investigators try interrogating them.

The officials of Maharashtra Anti Terrorism Squad (ATS) and Karnataka CID observed that whenever the accused are asked a question, they go mum and start meditating. According to the officials, this is part of their training to avoid revealing the secrets of the outfit. On the other hand, the Sanatan Sanstha issued an advisory to all its members to chant the name of Lord Krishna and meditate.

Complaint to the court:

The right-wingers arrested for Nalasopara arms haul case — Vaibhav Raut, Sharad Kalaskar and Sudhanva Gondhalekar  — are using this method to avoid being questioned. They had even complained to the court that they were being tortured during the investigation. However, no injuries were reported — clarifies the JJ Hospital report.

An ATS officer said, as published in Mid-Day, “We are treating them very politely. We are exploring whatever leads we receive from their questioning.” Similar instances are reported from Karnataka, where CID officials tried to question Sameer Gaikwad — locked in Satara prison for allegedly murdering Govind Pansare. He was being questioned for his links in the murder of M M Kalburgi and he started chanting ‘OM’.

Cover-up:

In an attempt to cover their members, Sanatan Sanstha spokesperson Prakash Rajhans said, as the daily reported,  “Sadhaks are very innocent; they don’t know how the police work. Due to continuous news stories and debates on the arrests, sadhaks are afraid that they will all be arrested, and Sanatan Sanstha will be shut. Many have called us to express their concerns. We posted the message to give them moral support,” he said, adding, “Those who have been arrested so far will also be proved innocent in the future.”
