4.0 Magnitude Earthquakes Hit Karnataka, Jharkhand At Same Time

A couple of days back an earthquake of 3.2 magnitudes hit Delhi, Noida, and the surrounding areas. On Friday two mild-intensity earthquakes hit Hampi and Jamshedpur districts in Karnataka and Jharkhand.

Jamshedpur was hit by an earthquake with a magnitude of 4.7 on the Richter Scale at 6:55 am today.  Hampi in Karnataka also experienced an earthquake measuring 4.0 on the Richter Scale at the same time.

The National Center for Seismology said, “An earthquake with a magnitude of 4.0 on the Richter Scale hit Hampi in Karnataka today at 06:55 am. Jamshedpur too was hit by an earthquake with a magnitude of 4.7 on the Richter Scale at 6:55 am today“.

Hampi is an ancient village dotted with numerous ruined 7th-century temple complexes, in Karnataka. Jamshedpur is famous for its Tata Steel Zoological Park which houses tigers and leopards.

No loss of life or property has been reported so far from both the earthquake-hit cities.

The quakes have come a day after a medium-intensity earthquake of magnitude 3.0 struck near Noida in the National Capital Region (NCR). The earthquake occurred at 10.42 pm at a depth of 4 km.  There were no immediate reports of any loss of life or property.

Delhi and near-by areas have experienced at least 6-7 earthquakes in the last one month. They took place around April 12 (3.5), April 13 (2.7), May 10 (3.4), and May 15 (2.2). The earthquakes are increasing tension for the people. The increasing number of quakes has given rise to speculation that Delhi might be headed for a much-stronger earthquake in the coming days.
