An unusually rare snowfall has covered parts of Greece in a thick blanket of Snow. The heavy snowfall has not only caused power cuts and other services in the country. It has also brought the many services across the nation to a standstill. A thick blanket of snow has even covered the ancient monument of Acropolis in Athen. Greek media reported that three deaths in separate parts of the country.
Hundreds of toppled trees downed power cables, causing blackouts in several suburbs, while one area on the city’s northern fringes was declared in a state of emergency for the next month. Some of the affected suburbs were also left without water.
The temperatures here are as low as -19C (-2.2F). More than three deaths have been blamed on the freezing condition. Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis has urged people to stay at home. Also, Extra supplies have been sent to the refugee camps.
