India currently stands in the third position, after US and Brazil of maximum coronavirus cases. But here is some good news, the fatality rate in the country is the lowest compared to other nations. Yes, India’s Covid-19 case fatality rate is “progressively falling”. It is currently at 2.49 percent, which is one of the lowest in the world. This fact was revealed by the Union Health Ministry on Sunday.
A senior health ministry official opened up during a press briefing. He said, “The Case Fatality Rate is progressively falling and currently, it is 2.49 percent. India has one of the lowest fatality rates in the world. This is because of effective Containment Strategy, aggressive testing, and standardized clinical management protocols issued by the government to combat the virus pandemic.”
He further added, 29 states and Union Territories in the country have lower Case Fatality Rate (CFR) than the national average. Meanwhile, five states and UTs have zero CFR while 14 others have a CFR less than one percent. The states and UTs which have not reported a single coronavirus-related death are Manipur, Nagaland, Sikkim, Mizoram, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, and Ladakh.
Earlier, the Health Ministry confirmed India recorded its highest single-day spike in coronavirus cases. It added 38,902 fresh cases in the last 24 hours. The total number of confirmed coronavirus cases in the country has now risen to 10.77 lakh. Out of the total cases, 6,77,423 patients have been cured/discharged/migrated while 3,73,379 are active cases in the country.
543 virus-related deaths in the last 24 hours, took the death toll to 26,816.
