Veteran actor Dilip Kumar also known as Tragedy King Of Bollywood passed away on Wednesday morning (June 7). The actor lost his battle to age-related prolonged illness. The shocking news was confirmed to ANI by Dr Jalil Parkar, the pulmonologist treating the actor at Mumbai’s PD Hinduja Hospital. He said that Dilip Kumar passed away at 7:30 am on Wednesday due to prolonged illness. The actor was 98 and is survived by his wife, veteran actor Saira Banu.
The last update before he passed away was of Saira Banu assuring fans of Dilip Ji being stable. Unfortunately, the actor succumbed to his illness on Wednesday. The news was confirmed by family friend Faisal Farooqui.
“With a heavy heart and profound grief, I announce the passing away of our beloved Dilip Saab, few minutes ago,” family friend Faisal Farooqui wrote in a tweet from the actor’s official account. “We are from God and to Him we return,” he added.

Dilip Kumar born Yusuf Khan was a trendsetter and inspired generations of actors. The Tragedy King Of Bollywood is regarded as one of the greatest actors of Indian cinema. He has acted in over 65 films and is known for his iconic roles in movies like Devdas, Mughal E Azam, Gunga Jamuna, Ram Aur Shyam, Naya Daur, Madhumati, Kranti, Vidhaata, Shakti and Mashaal, to name just a few. He was last seen in ‘Qila’ in 1998.
