Manchester City winger Leroy Sane, who was controversially left out of the Germany World Cup team in June, has now withdrawn from the national squad citing “private reasons” following a meeting with head coach Joachim Loew, the German Football Federation (DFB) confirmed on Friday.
The younger winger had a terrific season with Premier League club Manchester City, winning the League and FA Cup in the bygone season. But was in controversial terms not selected for the final 18 World Cup squad with Julian Brandt getting the nod ahead of him.

Sane, 22, was also subject to criticism by teammates Mats Hummels and Toni Kroos, both of whom slammed the young star for his attitude.
“Following discussions with head coach Joachim Loew, @LeroySane19 has left the team hotel in Munich for private reasons and will not be available,” the DFB confirmed in its official Twitter handle on Friday.
Although left out of the German team for the global tournament, Sane, however, came on as a substitute in the friendly match against France, which ended in a goalless draw.
Meanwhile, Germany faces Peru in an international friendly at home on Sunday.
