Meryl Streep and Nicole Kidman to star in ‘The Prom’ on Netflix

Ryan Murphy is casting Meryl Streep and Nicole Kidman in another film. It is ‘The Prom’ and shall be released on Netflix. The Film is basically an adaptation of Tony-nominated Broadway musical. The two have acted together before in films like ‘The hours’, ‘The Guardian Brothers’ and ‘Big Little Lies’.

Apart from Meryl Streep and Nicole Kidman, the film shall also be starring Awkwafina, James Corden, Ariana Grande, Keegan-Michael Key and Andrew Rannells. The story basically revolves around a lesbian student and that she wanted to bring her girlfriend to the school dance. But the two have been banned in conservative town high school of Edgewater.

This is Richard Murphy’s first Netflix project. “The Prom,” was an original concept by Jack Viertel. It has been a fan-favourite this season on Broadway and has received six Tony Award nominations, including one for best musical. It’s set to end its Broadway run on Aug11. The deal amounts close to about $300 million.

Richard Murphy is also set to make an adaptation of the play “The Boys in the Band”. The Broadway actors are going to reprise their roles for the film. The film will star Matt Bomer, Jim Parsons, Zachary Quinto and Andrew Rannells who would be reprising their role for the Netflix adaptation.
