India has begun COVID-19 vaccination drive across the nation. In Maharashtra 64.3 per cent of 28,500 health workers turned up for vaccination in 285 centres. In Mumbai, there was a 48.5 per cent turnout of 4,000 being invited on January 16. A city doctor was admitted to ICU of a city hospital after he suffered an adverse reaction of COVID-19 vaccine shot.
A city doctor was admitted in the intensive care unit of the V N Desai Hospital on Sunday after he suffered dizziness, lose motions, fever, dehydration and weakness following vaccination against Covid-19.
As per Indian Express Report, Dr Jairaj Acharya, of V N Desai Hospital, had taken his vaccine shot in the hospital itself on January 16. This was during the first round of immunisation rollout. Within 24 hours, Acharya suffered an adverse event. He complained of fever and dizziness and was rushed to the VN Desai Hospital, where he remains in ICU care.
Additional Municipal Commissioner Suresh Kakani said Acharya was admitted in the ICU as a precautionary measure. Doctors confirmed he suffered an adverse reaction linked with the vaccination but they added that he was now stable and will soon be discharged.
The report further adds, that when contacted Dr Acharya said he was fine and recovering. He also assured that the vaccine is safe and there is no need to be scared.
Across Maharashtra, over 280 cases of adverse events have been noticed post immunisation on January 16.
