NASA: Asteroid As Tall As The Empire State Building To Zip Past Earth

The year 2020 is catastrophic to humanity for, after Coronavirus, Cyclones, and Earthquakes Giant-sized asteroids are all set to zip past earth this June. Giant space rocks will approach Earth in a comparatively close range, starting Saturday, June 6.

As reported by NASA, the first giant asteroid is said to be bigger than the Empire State Building in Manhattan. It will be closing in with the Earth on June 6. Though there is no threat of a collision, scientists will be keeping a close eye on the gigantic space rock hurtling through space.

According to the NEO Close Approach data table, the asteroid 2002 NN4 will make its closest approach to Earth on June 6, at 3:20 am UTC. During the fly-by asteroid 2002, NN4 will be at a relative velocity of 40,140 kmph.

Following the 2002 NN4, asteroid 2013 XA22, will breach the MOID on June 8. Its approach will be closer than that of the 2002 NN4, coming to 0.019 AU (2.93 million kilometres) of Earth. It will fly by at relative velocity of 24,050 kmph.

Asteroid 441987 (2010 NY65) will cross Earth on Wednesday, June 24. It will breach the MOID at 0.025 AU (3.76 million kilometres) from Earth. The asteroid will have the highest relative velocity of 46,400 kmph.

With the on-going natural disasters happening in the world. People are quite worried about this potential threat. But there is no threat to the earth as all the asteroids are going to pass by at a safe distance.
