A national-level volleyball player from Rewari district in Haryana, accused her coach of sexual abuse for the last two and half years. The girl who is a minor, went to the police after the coach, who is posted in the Sports Departments office in the same area, had threatened to kill her if she disclosed the heinous crime to anyone.

“The girl and her family had approached the Jatusana police station on Sunday night. We got her medically examined and produced her before the magistrate for the recording of her statement. Investigations are on but no arrests have been made in the case so far,” said Rewari women police inspector Heeramani, as reported by the Times of India.

A case of rape on a minor has been charged against the accused coach Gaurav Deshwal under the POCSO Act in the Jatusana police station, informed the police.

Reportedly, the victim also named a woman official of the sports department, who, she alleged helped the accused in threatening her.

In a written complaint to the police, the complainant alleged that the coach first raped her in January 2016, when she had accompanied the coach and the woman official to Gurgaon to play in the state-level volleyball tournament. The accused had booked two hotel rooms and abused her.

The girl also added that the accused coach took her to various locations, such as Rohtak and Chandigarh where he sexually exploited her.

He later along with the woman official had been threatening the minor of spoiling her career, if she told anyone about the incidents.

Naresh Dahiya, a 40-year-old wrestler from northern Delhi was arrested last year for an alleged rape on a junior national-level kabaddi player.
