Odisha teacher awarded with garland of shows, thrashing for asking salary

A teacher, tied in tree, being thrashed.

Teaching is considered to be the best noble profession and it is their right to be paid on time. However, everywhere it does not happens. A recent case of inhumanity, a teacher allegedly thrashed by the owner of a coaching centre for asking to clear his salary dues in Kantilo area of Odisha’s Nayagarh district.

Though the incident took place on June 5, but only came to the limelight after the video was posed by the accused  in the social media. The teacher, appointed at Satya Sai Tutorials in Kantilo, taught English and had filed a compliant at Khandapada police station against the owner Tapan Mohapatra.

He further said that, he later quit the institute and joined another coaching centre when his salary dues were not cleared after repeated requests. In his complaint, the teacher alleged that he was not paid for last six months and when he went to ask his dues, he was tied in a tree and was thrashed.

Along with that, he was called on June 5 by Mohapatra and was tied to the tree, after which he was assaulted. He was garlanded with shoes and a video was allegedly made too by some of Mohapatra’s associates. Soon after the complaint was registered, Mohapatra went absconding and his coaching centre has been sealed.
