Actress Payal Ghosh has been grabbing the headlines for the past few days for accusing filmmaker Anurag Kashyap of sexual misconduct, she even claimed in her tweets that the ‘Gangs Of Wasseypur’ director had forced himself onto her. Well, you all must be wondering who is Payal Ghosh, here’s everything you need to know about the actress.
Payal was born on November 13, 1989, in Kolkata and has completed her Political Science Honours from Scottish Church College, Kolkata.
At the age of 17, she got her first role in the acting industry in Sean Bean starrer TV movie Sharpe’s Peril, in which she played the role of a village girl, the daughter of a revolutionary freedom fighter from Bengal.
Later, she joined Namit Kishore’s acting academy, where she met Chandra Sekhar Yeleti who offered her the lead role in the Telegu film, Prayanam, opposite Manchu Mano.
Payal Ghosh made her Bollywood debut in 2017 Patel Ki Punjabi Shaadi, starring Paresh Rawal, Vir Das and Prem Chopra, directed by Sanjay Chhel
Before her Bollywood debut, she also featured in various Telugu and Kannada films including, Varshadhaare, and Mr. Rascal.
Apart from movies, Payal was also a part of the popular television show, Saath Nibhana Saathiya in the year 2016 where she played the role of Radhika.
Coming back to her allegations, on Tuesday evening, Payal filed an FIR against the Anurag Kashyap at the Versova police station. “A written complaint has been lodged for the offence Rape, wrongful restrain, wrongful confinement and outraging the modesty of woman U/S 376, 354, 341, 342 of IPC and now the statement is being recorded of the victim,” said Ghosh’s lawyer in a statement.
