A former Member of the Rajya Sabha (1994 to 2006) and Governor of Bihar from 2015 to 2017, Ram Nath Kovind is only the second Dalit to become the President of India. The 73-year-old, who is the 14th President of India, also practised law and was a lawyer in the Delhi High Court and Supreme Court before entering politics. For the record, Kovind also served as the personal assistant to former Prime Minister of India, Morarji Desai in 1977 and 1978.
