President Ram Nath Kovind’s Wife Savita Kovind Stitches Masks For Shelter Homes

On Wednesday, President Ram Nath Kovind’s wife, Savita Kovind stitched face masks at Shakti Haat in the President’s Estate to do her part in the fight against COVID-19, as per a report by ANI.

The First Lady was seen covering her face with a red colour cloth mask while stitching the other masks. These masks will be distributed at various shelter homes of the Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board. This is indeed a great gesture by Savita Kovind for the public and she has given a message that everyone can fight the COVID-19 pandemic together.

Masks such as cloth masks, three-layered surgical masks, and N95 respirators can stop the spread of the coronavirus and health experts suggest to wear them as a safety measure. In fact, in some of the states, wearing masks is made compulsory while going out in public during the lockdown.

Meanwhile, President Ram Nath Kovind, on Wednesday, signed an ordinance to protect doctors and health workers against violent attacks. The Centre introduced the ordinance to punish violent attacks on health workers. Those who attack the health workers will get imprisonment from 6 months to 7 years and penalty of Rs 1 Lakh to Rs 5 lakhs in fine on being found guilty. The government amended the Epidemic Disease Act of 1897, and assaults on healthcare workers will now be considered as a cognizable and non-bailable offense, and the probe needs to be completed within 30 days under the supervision of a senior inspector.
