Former Congress Member of Parliament Priya Dutt has been removed from the post of secretary of All India Congress Committee. Priya Dutt posted a picture on her facebook, in which she is seen with her two sons and husband, and the same picture also has two glasses on the right side of the frame.

Priya Dutt reportedly accepted her removal from the party high command. But, if the report is to be believed, some of the local Congress men has attributed Priya Dutt’s removal to her ‘irresponsible’ facebook cover page image.

Other report says, local leaders were not happy with Priya Dutt’s performance, and staying away from the Bharat Bandh made Congress leaders angry. It has not been confirmed from our side, but city Congress leaders said she was spotted shopping at a mall on the bandh day.

The ex-MP seems to be facing opposition from a large section of her party, especially aspirants to the Lok Sabha ticket from her constituency. Last weekend, some local Congress leaders told Mumbai Congress president Sanjay Nirupam not to recommend her as the party’s official candidate for the next general elections.

“Seriously!! This is the most ridiculous news I have heard, I have been secretary for long enough, and I think change is inevitable. People who speak like this are those who never want to leave their positions. I don’t think like this. I am very happy to give up my position and for others to be given a chance. This kind of unnecessary speculation is childish and uncalled for, ” Priya Dutt quoted by mid-day as saying.

A letter issued by Ashok Gehlot, general secretary, AICC, reads “Rahul Gandhi has appreciated your hard work and contribution to the party as secretary of AICC. I am sure your services will be utilised by the party in the future also.”
