Pune’s ‘Warrior Aaji’ takes social media by storm; Riteish Deshmukh asks for contact details

A video of an elderly woman twirling two sticks with unusual dexterity went viral on the internet. Social media named her ‘Warrior Aaji’, or ‘Warrior Grandmother’. Shanta Balu Pawar, the 85-year-old from Pune, has been performing on the streets during the lockdown. She prefers working rather than begging for help.

A video of her performing Lathi-Kathi was posted by Marathi actor Aishwarya Kale on social media.

In the video Shanta Pawar a resident of Hadpsar, Pune, is seen weilding her sticks on the road. Many people are seen puttong money in her bowl. The viral video has caught the attention of Sonu Sood, Riteish Deshmukh, Randeep Hooda and Lakshmi Ratan Shukla, as well as Pune Police Commissioner K Venkatesham.

Ritiesh Deshmukh has asked for her contact details. Later, he shared that he has found the contact details of the woman.

Sonu Sood too wrote, “Can I get her details please. Wanna open a small training school with her where she can train women of our country some self defence techniques.”

Many have extended a helping hand to Shanta Balu Pawar,social group Nirmitee and Shivneri Trust also extended aid to Pawar and her grandchildren.
