Congress president Rahul Gandhi will meet the family members of those killed during the farmers’ stir last year in Madhya Pradesh’s Mandsaur.
He will be announcing Kisan Samriddhi Sankalp, a plan to improve the plight of farmers in the state if the Congress party comes to power.
It is expected that all the senior leaders will be attending the rally. The rally is scheduled ahead of the MP Assembly elections later this year.
MP farmers are going through a really bad phase. The places that are worst affected are the Malwa-Nimad region comprising 15 districts, including Mandsaur, Jitu Patwari, working president of the state Congress said.
Six farmers were allegedly killed last year in a police firing during a protest that had turned violent.
The Congress had raised the issue of farmer distress under the BJP government in Gujarat where it gained electorally and is expecting to do the same in Madhya Pradesh.
