Raj Thackeray: Offer Namaz at home, not on streets

MNS chief Raj Thackeray advised Muslims should offer Namaz at home, not on streets, as this creates problems for the commuters.

Known for making controversial comments, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena chief Raj Thackeray on Friday raised the issue of Muslims offering prayers on streets and questioned the use of loudspeakers for the same. He suggested that Muslim people should pray at home, without disturbing anyone.

Addressing his partymen on the occasion of Guru Purnima in Pune, Thackeray said, “I always ask Muslims, why they need loudspeakers for azaan? Who do they want to show? If they want to offer namaz do it at home, not on roads.”

 

Thackeray also said that everyone should understand their responsibility, adding that if it happens then there would be no misunderstanding between countries and states. Expressing his opinion on the ongoing Maratha reservation row, the MNS chief said that the violence during the agitation is a failure of the state government. He said that if the Bharatiya Janata Party-led government can not protect state, then it has no authority to rule.
