Rajinikanth to be honoured with IFFI Golden Jubilee award

South megastar Rajinikanth is all set to be honored by the Indian Government. The superstar will be conferred with Icon of Golden Jubilee of IFFI award at this year’s International Film Festival in Goa. He will be honoured for his contribution to Indian cinema. The news was shared by Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar on his Twitter handle.

Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting Prakash Javadekar tweeted, “In recognition of his outstanding contribution to Indian cinema, during the past several decades, I am happy to announce that the award for the ICON OF GOLDEN JUBILEE OF #IFFI2019 is being conferred on cine star Shri S Rajnikant.”

Rajinikanth soon responded in kind and thanked the government for the honour. He tweeted, “I thank the government of India for this prestigious honour bestowed upon me on the golden jubilee of the International film festival of India.”

The 50th International Film Festival of India, IFFI 2019, will be held from 20-28 November in Goa. Over 200 best films from 76 countries, 26 feature films and 15 non-feature films in the Indian Panorama section will be screened at the film festival.

The festival is celebrating its Golden Jubilee year and will be screening 50 films by 50 female filmmakers to acknowledge the contribution of women in cinema.
