Monsoon Session 2018 : Rajnath Singh hits back at Congress, rakes up 1984 riots

Rajnath Singh came wearing boxing gloves in the Parliament today, as he took on the innumerable charges of the Opposition led by Congress. The Congress attacked the BJP for their inefficiency to keep a check on the growing number of lynchings, demonetization and the safety of women. Attacking Congress President Rahul Gandhi, Rajnath Singh said that not every person has the privilege to be born with a silver spoon in their mouths. He also added that he wishes every leader in the country be born to a poor woman.

The Union Home Minister said, “No other party has this kind of majority. The Opposition is currently finding help of smaller parties to bring about this No- Confidence Motion. The government faltered greatly during the time of UPA led by Dr. Manmohan Singh. However, we didn’t believe in carrying out a No-Confidence Motion against the government, as we respected the mandate of the people and accepted it. We understand that the Opposition has certain rights and privileges in a Democracy and they cannot be misused. We had never imagined that from two MPs we could be the country with the majority in the Parliament. This itself proves what the people of the nation want. We have formed governments where we never thought we could come to power like the state of Tripura. We even fought council elections in places like Ladakh and Kargil and won there”.

Rajnath Singh, took a jibe at Shashi Tharoor’s Hindu-Pakistan comment and said, ” Lynchings are unfortunate and have happened in the time of UPA government as well. The 1984 Sikh riots were the biggest human lynchings this country has ever seen. I have asked the State governments to form strict laws against such lynchings and the Centre will provide any kind of help to the states. I don’t know why people talk about things like Hindu-Pakistan and Hindu-Taliban, where are they planning to take the country?”
