Ram temple bill to be introduced in Parliament’s next session: BJP’s Ravindra Kushwaha

Ravindra Kushwaha, BJP Member of Parliament, made a claim that a bill which will allow the construction of Ram temple in Ayodhya will be placed in the parliament’s next session. In case the bill fails in the upper house of the parliament, the Centre will bring an ordinance for the construction, he said.

“The Bill for Ram temple construction will definitely be tabled in the coming winter session of Parliament, beginning December 11,” the BJP’s Salempur MP told while talking to reporters in Ballia.

“But if it fails to get passed by the Rajya Sabha, an ordinance will be brought for the purpose,” Kushwaha added.

According to Kushwaha, people will get to know who is for the temple and who are against it when it will be discussed in the parliament.

Kushwaha’s claim comes at a time when the Hindutva groups are pressing for legislation to construct the temple at the disputed site in Ayodhya. The matter of building the temple is currently subjudice and is current being heard by the Supreme Court.

The BJP MP was confident that the Bill will be passed in the Lok Sabha, but wasn’t sure whether it will be passed in the Rajya Sabha where BJP doesn’t have the numbers. Kushwaha also said that people were hopeful when the court decided to hear the matter day-to-day, but were disappointed later when it kept on lingering. The Supreme Court, however, said that it would hear the matter only in January 2019.

Kushwaha’s reactions came only a couple of days ahead of ‘Dharma Sabha’ slated for Sunday by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad. The VHP in Ayodhya will press for the Ram temple construction at the disputed site.

However, the Hindutva groups along with Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and Shiv Sena have been pressing for the Ram temple to be built in Ayodhya and have slammed the government for slow progress on the matter.
