Sanjay Leela Bhansali has finally found his Baiju Bawra. Rumours were rife that Ranbir Kapoor or Kartik Aaryan are being considered to play the lead role. But contrary to rumours, it is neither Ranbir nor Kartik. As reported by an entertainment portal, the famed director has locked in Ranveer Singh for his ambitious project.
As reported by sources to ETimes, “It’s Ranveer Singh who has been finalised. An official announcement is in the offing, but yes, a few modalities yet remain to be worked on. Probably post all that, Bhansali will declare. But as things stand today, it is Ranveer.”
Speaking about rumours of Ranbir Kapoor being considered for the role and the Barfinstar turning down the offer. Sources added, “Ranbir has not been offered Baiju Bawra. The only time Ranbir turned down a role in a Bhansali film was when he was offered Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai starrer Guzaarish. Bhansali offered him the role that was eventually played by Aditya Roy Kapur.”
If the rumours do come true then it will be the fourth collaboration between Ranveer Singh and Sanjay Leela Bhansali. The duo has worked together for Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram Leela, Bajirao Mastani and Padmaavat. All three went on to be blockbusters and catapulted Ranveer Singh into the main league in Bollywood.
On the work front, Sanjay Leela Bhansali is busy with Gangubai Kathiawadi. The movie features Alia Bhatt in the titular role. Bhansali also has another project Heera Mandi in his kitty.
Ranveer Singh on the other hand will soon be seen in sports drama 83 and Jayeshbhai Jordaar.
