CPI-M leader Sitaram Yechury’s son Ashish dies of COVID-19

In a shocking turn of events, Sitaram Yechury, the leader of the Communist Party (Marxist) informed that his son Ashish Yechury passed away on Thursday morning due to Coronavirus. Earlier, Ashish was hospitalized at Holy Family Hospital but was shifted to Medanta Hospital in Gurgaon.

Sitaram Yechury tweeted: “It is with great sadness that I have to inform that I lost my elder son, Ashish Yechury to COVID-19 this morning. I want to thank all those who gave us hope and who treated him – doctors, nurses, frontline health workers, sanitation workers and innumerable others who stood by us.”

Ashish, 34, was a senior copy editor with a leading newspaper in Delhi.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Minister of West Bengal Mamata Banerjee and other politicans offered their heartfelt condolences to Sitaram Yechury on social media.
