Snow White Live-action Remake: West Side Story’s Rachel Zegler To Play Lead

Disney is all set to make the live-action version of its most popular film, Snow White. The 20-year-old actress, Rachel Zegler will be marking her big-screen debut with West Side Story in December and now she has bagged the lead role in this Disney film. Even before releasing her first movie, she bagged the role of Snow White in the remake version. The live-action is being helmed by Marc Webb, while Marc Platt will be bankrolling the film. The production work is expected to begin in 2022.

Talking about welcoming Rachel on board for the film, Webb informed Deadline, “Rachel’s extraordinary vocal abilities are just the beginning of her gifts. Her strength, intelligence and optimism will become an integral part of rediscovering the joy in this classic Disney fairytale.”

According to the reports, the casting department for Snow White’s remake was extremely happy with Rachel’s audition. On the other side, her footage from West Side Story are said to have impressed the directors even more. The actress who is quite active on her Instagram handle also treated her fans with the good news of bagging the role.

For the unversed, the original flick, Snow White and the Seven Dwarves was based on the Brothers Grimm fairytale book and it was released in the year 1937. This was Disney’s first animated feature film and it garnered a great response from the audience from all across the globe.
