The Income Tax Department ‘surveyed’ six locations linked to actor Sonu Sood. They raided the Dabangg actor’s home and office in Mumbai. A company in Lucknow was also raided by IT officials. The survey has been on since morning, however, no seizures have been made so far.
Six places linked to actor Sonu Sood are being ‘surveyed’ by the Income Tax department, as per a report by NDTV.
As reported by sources to NDTV, “A recent deal between Sonu Sood’s company and a Lucknow-based real estate firm is under the scanner. The survey operation has been initiated on allegations of tax evasion on this deal.”
Sonu Sood is known for his humanitarian work. He grabbed the national spotlight for helping stranded migrants reach their home states. This was during the nationwide lockdown clamped last year in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. The 48-year-old actor also organised special flights home for migrants stranded in April-May. During the second wave of COVID-19, he also organised medicines and oxygen for Covid patients.
Recently, Sonu Sood was announced as the brand ambassador of the AAP government’s ‘Desh ka Mentor’ programme. Delhi’s Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had declared the actor the brand ambassador for his government’s mentorship programme for school students in the capital. It is aimed at providing guidance to students on career choices.
Sonu has never shown any inclination towards politics. But speculation ran wild after his meeting with the AAP chief. As per rumours, the actor may contest next year’s Punjab election.
