Times Now journalist Herman Gomes attacked, Journalists called it ‘dastardly act’

Times now journalist Herman Gomes, working in Mumbai was attacked in the wee hours of Sunday, 14 October. Herman Gomes was badly injured got 7 stitches

A Mumbai based Times Now journalist Herman Gomesh was brutally beaten up by some unidentified people near his house in South Mumbai on early Sunday.

Herman Gomes was on his way back to a home along with his friends in a cab late Saturday night. The moment he got out of the cab at around 1.30 am on Sunday, four to six people were waiting in Gamdevi and they mercilessly attacked him.

According to the Gamdevi Police, the unidentified people allegedly started abusing him and later assaulted him. The journalist was badly injured in the assault and based on his complaint, police have registered a case.


The Police are busy finding the motive behind this attack. The investigation is underway. The Journalist association has condemned the attack and alleged that police did not file the victim’s complaint promptly.

Herman Gosh while talking to local media said, “I don’t intervene in any other’s business, I just do stories that I firmly believe in. But, the last night was something different and they came to kill me. My eyes are badly affected. I don’t even know which story affected so much, I also don’t know who these people are?” Herman Gosh added, “I have got 6 stitches around my eyes and body.”

Although, The Mumbai Press Club termed the attack on Herman Gomes as a ‘dastartly act’. An association of crime reporters in the city, in a statement, demanded immediate arrest of the assailants.

The Journalist association has also urged Maharashtra Chief Devendra Fadnavis to take action against the police officer who did not file his complaint promptly and delayed registration of the First Information Report (FIR) in the matter.
